The Best Beaches to Visit on the West Side of Oahu

The beaches on the Island of Oahu are stunning to say the least. Beautiful scenery, white sands, and crystal clear blue waters make the beaches on Oahu a welcome spot to spend the day and relax and enjoy the experience. And I’m not talking about the crowded beaches of Waikiki either. But to experience these beaches, you need to now where these beaches are and a little bit about them first. In this article I’m going to be sharing with you some of the best beaches on the west side of Oahu that you can go to and fully appreciate the island and all of its beauty.

The first beach we’ll be discussing is the Koolina Resort. The resort is located on the west side of the island and is just outside the city of Kapolei. On the resort are 4 manmade lagoons that offer great swimming opportunities for children and less experienced swimmers. The lagoons are located on the south end of the property and are open to the public. Each lagoon has its own breakwater which prevents any big waves or strong currents to enter the lagoon. This ensures clam waters for anyone who decides to take a dip.

Another nice beach on the west side of the island is Yokohama Bay. This bay is located at the very end of Farrington Highway and is a beautiful bay to visit. It has beautiful white sands, crystal clear waters and even restroom facilities to wash up after spending the day at the beach. But there are 2 things that you need to know about before deciding to go there. The first is that you need to check the local surf report for the west side of the island prior to going.

Yokohama Bay is relatively deep, which means that any waves that get there are very powerful and will easily knock someone off their feet and drag them into the water. The second thing as that because of the bay’s location (all the way out in the boondocks) there have been incidents where cars have been broken into and the contents stolen. But if you check the surf report, respect the power of the ocean and don’t keep anything of value unattended in your vehicle, you shouldn’t have a problem.

These are just a couple of the beaches on the west side of Oahu that I would recommend. They have the safest swimming environments, restroom facilities and beautiful scenery, especially if your happen to still be at the beach during sunset hours. So during your stay here, be sure to stop by and spend the day. It’s a great alternative to the hustle and bustle of Waikiki.

Oahu, Hawaii is the most populated island in the Hawaiian chain and holds many of the attributes that make Hawaii a favorite destination spot for vacationers. Unfortunately, many of the visitors that come here, end up leaving frustrated and disappointed with the experience. To truly enjoy and appreciate everything that Oahu has to offer, you need to have inside information on where to go, what to do and when to do it. Being born and raised on the island, I have access to this type of information and I’m ready to share this information with everyone through my articles.
