Three Tables Beach is a snorkeling, scuba diving, and swimming spot that is particularly beautiful during summer months when the ocean is calm and there are no high surfs. During the said time of the year, the reef’s underwater beauty can then be explored.

Three Tables Beach is flanked by Shark’s Cove to the west and by Waimea Bay to the east in North Shore Oahu. A fine sand shore marks as entry to the reef, which makes it easier and quicker to access than its neighboring Shark’s Cove. However, Three Tables has less abundance of fishes than Shark’s Cove. But if you are looking for some of the best corals in Oahu, you can find it at Three Tables. Some corals even give off give off interesting bright green and blue colors!

Three Tables took its name from the three large reefs wash rocks whose flat surfaces are quite visible during low tide. The rocks are approximately 40 feet away from the shore. The table structures extend from the ocean floor to about a foot above the sea level. On the right side of the tables, divers will be treated to an amazing lava tube system. To the left, there’s a wall with a few coral rock formations and boulders.

With a depth of 20-45 feet and visibility of 50-100 feet, Three Tables is one of the best spots in the island to snorkel or scuba dive. Snorkeling is best around and between the tables; water depth there just ranges around 2 – 6 feet. Experiencing the rich sea life that Three Tables offer, however, is best achieved outside the tables. If you want to explore the reef’s gorgeous canyons, lava tubes, ledges, sea arches, and more deep sea marine life, drop to 25 feet up to 50 feet.

For non-divers, there are tide pools near the beach that are great for swimming. When waves are small, you can also join occasional surfers get some fun at the surfing spot known as Rubber Duckies, which is located to the right of the last table.

Swimming, snorkeling, and diving should be done only when ocean water is calm. This usually happens in summer, from May to October. Three Tables is home to varied underwater creatures including eels, parrotfish, octopus, rays, turtles, and unicorn fish. Whether you’re snorkeling and scuba diving, don’t disturb the marine life; you’re in a marine sanctuary.
